Description
1961: after just a few months as the first leader of the newly independent Republic of the Congo, Patrice Lumumba was arrested, tortured and executed by a firing squad in Katanga. 1962: Raoul Peck, aged eight, left Haiti for the Congo. Late 1980s: between childhood memories, reports and archives, personal investigations and analyses of the effects of colonization seen through the hero of Congolese independence, the filmmaker returns to that decisive period in African history.
